Texas Hold’Em might have become extremely popular over the past decade because of the presence of high profile tournaments and exotic movies based on the game, but that doesn’t mean that Texas Hold’em is the only form of poker in the world. Poker has a number of variations and versions and players can choose from a vast variety of poker games at most online and physical casinos. Here is a list of some of the most popular poker games in the world.

Texas Hold’Em Poker

The Texas Hold’Em Poker is played in the World Series of Poker and is known to be the most famous poker game in the world. Players are dealt with two pocket cards and a total of 5 community cards are dealt. The betting takes place in four rounds, once the hole cards are dealt, once the first 3 community cards are dealt (flop), once the 4th community card is dealt (turn) and once when the 5th community card is dealt (river). Players must make the best possible combination using the hole cards and the community cards in order to win the game.

Omaha Poker
Omaha is considered to be the second most popular type of poker in the world. It can be played by up to 10 players at a go. The gameplay is quite similar to Texas Hold’em, but players are dealt with 4 hole cards instead of 2. There are four rounds of betting and players must make the best possible combination using two of their hole cards and three community cards.

7-Card Stud Poker
The 7-Card stud version deals players with a total of 7 cards. Three of these cards are dealt facing down while the remaining cards are dealt facing up. Players must make the best possible 5 card combination from their hand of 7 cards in order to win.

5-Card Draw Poker
The 5 Card Draw Poker deals each player with a total of 5 cards. However, players are allowed to trade up to 3 of these cards in the initial go around. All of the remaining rules are similar to the Texas Hold’em and players must have the best possible 5 card combination to win the game.

High / Low Chicago Poker
The High/ Low Chicago Poker is either played for the highest hand or for the lowest hand. If you play the Low Chicago poker, the person with the lowest spade wins half of the pot. If you choose to play High Chicago, the person who has the highest spade wins half of the pot. The other half of the pot is won by the player who wins the game by making the best hand. If the same player has the best hand as well as the high/ low spade card, he/ she wins the entire pot.

Follow the Queen Poker
Follow the Queen Poker is a 7 card game of poker where the wild card is the next card that is exposed as soon as a queen is flipped. If the game does not flip a queen, there is no wild card in that particular round.
