If you are into gambling, you probably have heard about Sheldon Adelson. He is doubtlessly one of the big fishes in the gambling sector. And as you probably know, he is a quite peculiar person, who doesn’t enjoy the best reputation. His methods are always not the most ethical, and that’s why he probably has more enemies than friends. But one thing is for sure, he is a successful business man. And the latest news don’t do other than confirming this aspect.

According to the news, Las Vegas Sands, probably Mr. Adelson’s most ambitious project ever, experienced an income rise of around 19% with a profit of almost $600m in the last three months of 2013, thanks mainly to the success of its Macao division. In 2013, the overall record revenue was of almost $14b, incresing in 23.7% the amount of 2012. But this is not the most shocking data. Only Las Vegas Sand made more money than all casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City together.

As you know, Sands is a global company, with different sections and regional divisions. And among them all, Sands China was again the most successful one, with a rise of 37% over 2012’s revenue.
After China, the Macao region was the second one in terms of development and rise in revenue and profit.

Sands Cotaj Central also did pretty good in 2013, confirming that Mr.Adelson’s decision to expand to Asia was a total success. And in words of Mr. Adelson, “this is just the beginning”. Next opening will be a Parisian resort in Cotai. The project is quite advanced, and the budget and schedule are being respected. So its scheduled to open in the end of 2015.
Mr.Adelson is aware that these great numbers are related directly with the increase in tourism that Asia is currently experiencing. The more tourists come to Asia, the better for Las Vegas Sands. And the more tourists Las Vegas Sands attract, the better for Asia. So it’s a win win situation for both parts.

Future plans for Las Vegas Sands are obviously new markets such as South Korea or Japan. Mr. Adelson is expectant to the news and changes in the laws of these two countries. Experts confirm that it’s quite likely that both countries will finish the casino and gambling ban in the near future, so the leaders in gambling business are planning already their strategy to use in these two countries.
